Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – A Guide on Washing Your Clothes

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the developers have meticulously crafted a plethora of gameplay mechanics aimed at enhancing player immersion in a realistic medieval setting. Players must manage various aspects of life, including the necessity of finding a bed to rest, maintaining proper nutrition, and selecting appropriate clothing to avoid unwanted attention.
One particularly crucial aspect of maintaining your character’s reputation revolves around cleanliness. Keeping your clothes clean is not merely a cosmetic choice; it has significant effects on gameplay. If your character, Henry, arrives at a location with dirty or blood-stained clothing, NPCs will react accordingly, potentially locking you out of essential dialogues and quests. Moreover, a lack of hygiene negatively impacts Henry’s charisma stat until he is cleaned up.
This dynamic drives home the game’s theme that cleanliness is next to godliness. Let’s explore the methods available to keep Henry’s wardrobe fresh and presentable.
How to Wash Your Own Clothing
The first approach to keeping your clothes clean is to wash them yourself. To accomplish this, you will need to procure soap, which can either be purchased or crafted.
Buying Soap

Soap can be found for sale at select merchants, with Merchant Jurg Thomel in Troskowitz being the easiest initial source. While the cost of each bar of soap is 18.1 Groschen, a price many players may find steep, it is essential for maintaining appearance.
Players should also keep an eye out for soap at laundry locations, where you can sometimes find it without purchase. It is important to note that soap deteriorates over time, indicated by a heart icon displaying its quality percentage. Using soap while it’s still fresh ensures maximum cleaning effectiveness.
Making Your Own Soap

For players inclined towards sustainability, crafting your own soap is a viable alternative. To do this, visit Apothecary Emerich in Troskowitz, who offers a basic soap recipe for 131 Groschen. Don’t hesitate to haggle to lower that price!
After acquiring the recipe, you need to memorize the steps involved. Gather the necessary ingredients — two thistles, one dandelion, and one charcoal — and head to an alchemy bench to start brewing. If you lack any of these items, find them in the garden adjoining Apothecary Emerich’s shop, where charcoal is available for 0.5 Groschen each.
Here are the steps for crafting soap:
- Add oil to the cauldron.
- Grind and add two handfuls of thistles to the cauldron.
- Boil thistles for two turns of the hourglass.
- Add one handful of dandelion and boil for one turn of the hourglass.
- Grind one handful of charcoal and add to the mixture.
- Pour the final product into a phial.
Completing these steps successfully will result in your very own handmade soap.
Heading to a Laundry Spot
Close
With soap in hand, it’s time to locate a laundry spot. These locations will be marked on your map once discovered. The first laundry location you may encounter is near a small pond on the eastern edge of Troskowitz.
Position yourself at the end of the pier and select the option to launder your clothes instead of just washing your face. This is a more thorough cleaning method.
Upon choosing to launder your clothing, a menu will appear allowing you to select the items for washing. The top right of the menu indicates the soap’s strength, which tells you how many items can be cleaned at once.
Each clothing item you possess will display a number indicating how much soap it requires for cleaning. Feel free to select multiple items until you hit the soap usage limit. Confirm your selection by pressing the Square button, and watch as your clothes return to pristine condition.
Visiting the Baths

An alternative to doing laundry yourself is to visit a bathhouse. The most accessible bathhouse early in the game is found at the Zhelejov Wagoner’s Inn, owned by a woman named Dorothy.
Initiate a conversation with her and request bathhouse services. You’ll have various options, each with its own cost in Groschen.

Regardless of the option you select, Henry’s clothes will receive a thorough washing. The Full Service option not only cleanses clothes but also grants a valuable buff, enhancing strength, agility, and vitality for an extended period.
It’s important to note that only the clothes currently worn by Henry will be laundered at the bathhouse. For cleaning additional items effectively, utilizing the laundry spots with your craft soap would be the ideal choice.
