Just like Indiana Jones’ iconic whip and fedora, the breathing device is another indispensable asset in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This innovative gadget allows players to explore underwater environments safely, expanding the opportunities for adventure in this thrilling game. While players might encounter secret spots requiring a breathing device early in the game, acquiring it is reserved for a later chapter in the storyline, raising the question of how and when players can obtain this essential tool.

Securing the breathing device not only enriches gameplay by helping players uncover hidden treasures in quests like ‘Riddles of the Ancients’, but it’s also worth knowing that this item, along with others like the lighter or camera, will not automatically appear in your inventory. Players must undertake specific tasks and progress in the central storyline to unlock it.

How to Acquire the Breathing Device in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

To secure the breathing device, commonly referred to as the Rebreather, players must progress to the Sukhothai segment during the quest titled ‘The Blessed Pearl’. After navigating through a series of cutscenes, adventurers can commence exploring Sukhothai via boat. However, before acquiring the breathing device, players need to complete several preparatory tasks to proceed.

Breathing Device Location (Tongdang’s Hut)

The Rebreather can be acquired directly from a vendor named Tongdang in Sukhothai. To reach Tongdang’s Hut, players will need to travel via boat towards the central region of the Sudokhai map, as shown in the images above. Although Tongdang offers this essential item, the Rebreather is expensive, priced at 798 baht—the local currency of Sukhothai. Given the early stages of the game, accumulating sufficient funds may pose a challenge.

Funding the Breathing Device (How to Steal Voss’s Gold)

Upon your initial conversation with Tongdang regarding the Rebreather, a quest titled Voss’ Gold Stash becomes available. If funds are insufficient, successfully completing this quest is vital. Players should navigate to the northeast corner of the Sukhothai map and stealthily make their way into Voss’ camp, progressing towards the first floor of the central structure.

A strategic approach involves traversing under the wooden platform from the eastern part of the area near the second cat painting, allowing you access without detection. However, careful movement from various directions is also possible.

Continuing beneath the platform past the opening with white paint reveals a hidden area containing a Lost Artifact of Asia, specifically the Ganesha Statue. Keep in mind that Voss’ camp is heavily guarded. To simplify your mission, acquire the Royal Army Disguise positioned just outside the main building. With this disguise, you can ascend the exterior stairs and enter through the side window with ease.

Equipped with the Royal Army Disguise, you can navigate past the guards until you reach Voss’ room, where a captain awaits. Defeat him to access the safe using the code 5484 and steal four gold bars valued at 500 baht each. This haul should provide ample funds, but there’s also an additional 100 baht available on a table, along with another locked room and a chest filled with further treasures.

Purchasing the Breathing Device (Rebreather)

With the gold secured, make your way back to Tongdang’s Hut to purchase the breathing device using the newfound riches. In front of Tongdang, you’ll find the necessary funds available for the transaction. Post-purchase, players will have ample cash remaining to buy nearby items like the Sukhothai Mysteries and Sukhothai Adventure pamphlets, each costing 450 baht—available only after obtaining the breathing device.

Obtaining the breathing device is a pivotal moment not just for story progression but also for discovery. This enhanced equipment allows players to dive deeper into the rich underwater secrets of Sukhothai and other regions throughout Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, including hidden treasures in earlier game locations like Vatican City.
