Hollow Knight: Silksong Rosary Farming Tips for Quick Progress

In Hollow Knight: Silksong, players often find themselves short on currency. Whether it’s purchasing keys, acquiring new equipment, or simply wanting to craft Rosaries for protection against losing their loot, expenses add up quickly. Fortunately, various enemies in the game drop Rosary Beads, which players can strategically exploit for in-game currency.
This guide will provide insights into the most effective money-making strategies, highlighting prime locations to farm Rosaries across different game segments. It is assumed that you have already navigated through at least the first four areas, including waking up in the Moss Grotto, traversing The Marrow, battling Lace in the Deep Docks, and leaving the Far Fields equipped with the dash and cloak abilities.
The following methods are designed to maximize your Rosary farming efficiently and can be performed repeatedly. While these grinding techniques may not offer the thrill of adventurous exploration, they are a practical way to earn currency quickly, usually requiring only a few minutes of your time.
Quests
Before diving into money-generating strategies, it is highly advisable to complete all available quests first. Many quests can yield substantial rewards in Rosary Beads and occasionally unique items. Delaying these tasks could lead to regrets later in the game.
Early in the game, quests frequently appear in Bone Bottom, and as you progress, locations like Bellhart and Songclave begin to offer their own set of tasks. If you find yourself with a lack of quests, then enemy grinding will become your next best option.
Act 1: Early Game Strategies
Most enemies in the early game do not drop Rosaries, focusing instead on Shell Shards, which complicates finding effective farming spots. A notable location is the upper left area of the Deep Docks, where a bench is conveniently located near an enemy that yields seven Rosaries per defeat.
This may seem modest, but the nearby bench allows for quick respawns. With each cycle taking approximately 10 to 15 seconds, you can rake in around 35 Rosaries per minute, totaling 2100 per hour. While grinding for an entire hour is not recommended, this method can help you gather enough currency for a Simple Key at Bone Bottom.
This is also an excellent opportunity to begin stringing your Rosaries by purchasing beads from the Bone Bottom shopkeeper, which would prepare you for future hunts.
Act 1: Late Game Tactics
Assuming you have advanced enough to access the Blasted Steps, this section presumes you have acquired your Cling Grip, rescued Bellhart, and received your initial nail upgrade from the Pinmaster in Bellhart.
Now let’s head to Greymoor and rest at the Halfway Home bench. Two screen transitions to the right, a trio of Citadel enemies awaits your arrival, and together, they can drop around 30 Rosaries when defeated.
Though the respawn time may be longer at around 20 to 25 seconds, this method proves more effective if you are also seeking Shell Shards while wearing the Shard Pendant. Efficiently executed, you can net 90 Rosaries per minute, which amounts to approximately 5400 per hour.
If preferred, you can farm in the area between Shellwood and Bone Bottom, though this route may prove slightly more challenging, potentially leading to quicker runs.
Act 2: Early Game Farming
In this segment, it’s expected that you have explored the Citadel to the point of discovering the Bellway at the bottom left of the Choral Chambers. While having the second nail upgrade is advantageous, it is not strictly necessary.
This method operates similarly to the previous Greymoor strategy but benefits from proximity to the Bellway. Just outside, there are two Citadel enemies to quickly farm, yielding the same 30 Rosaries per rep, but with the advantage of a shorter travel distance.
With the availability of the Charge Slash and Silkspeed Anklets, you can achieve rep cycles of about 15 to 20 seconds. If you manage to complete four reps within a minute, that comes to 120 Rosaries per minute, equating to 7200 per hour.
While you can attempt the next farming strategy now, if you lack the Fay Cloak and a third nail upgrade, it is advisable to hold off until you are better equipped. Conversely, if you’re at a later point in the game, this method remains advantageous.
Act 2: Late Game Strategies
At this phase, your character is substantially stronger and capable of defeating tougher enemies. Embrace confidence as you approach the significant guards in the Citadel, guarding the pathway to the Cogwork Core, since taking damage may result in lost currency.
Consider utilizing the Thief’s Mask acquired by flying into Thief’s Den in Blasted Steps to maximize your earnings. Additionally, equipping the Barbed Bracelet will double your damage output against enemies.
Proceed down the lengthy corridor, dispatching guards to collect around 55 Rosaries with each defeat. Rest at the Cogwork Core’s bench, then return to tackle more guards before resting again at Songclave. The timing of each cycle will vary based on your combat skill, yet you can earn upwards of 150 Rosaries per rep.
If you can manage to complete each cycle within 45 seconds, you will amass 9000 Rosaries per hour, which is an impressive total and likely exceeds the amount usually required for most transactions during gameplay.
