The much-anticipated launch of FragPunk is just a week away, and it has unveiled a wealth of exciting features for players in Season 1. As one of 2025’s standout additions to the online multiplayer landscape, FragPunk is a free-to-play 5v5 hero shooter that embraces a unique gameplay style marked by modifier cards capable of shifting the tide of combat significantly.
Since its eye-catching announcement, FragPunk has garnered attention for its vibrant punk aesthetics and rapid-fire FPS action. In a competitive arena often dominated by heavyweights like Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and Overwatch, FragPunk distinguishes itself through its innovative Shard Card multipliers. These cards are set to redefine the dynamics of multiplayer battles. Prior to its official launch, FragPunk conducted a series of closed beta tests in 2024, offering a select group of players a sneak peek into its captivating gameplay.
New Season 1 Trailer Released
With the release just around the corner, FragPunk has shared an exciting new trailer revealing its Season 1 lineup. Players can look forward to an impressive catalog of 150 Shard Cards, with 50 of them making their debut in the trailers and playtests. The trailer showcases thrilling gameplay possibilities enabled by these new cards, including ‘Dimensional Travel, ’ which lets players navigate parallel realities for strategic advantages, and unique mechanisms like black hole mine traps. Additionally, the ‘Feinting Flash’ card creates a flashbang effect simply by dropping a weapon, adding layers of strategy to gameplay.
Beyond the allure of Shard Cards, FragPunk promises a rich gaming experience with 13 distinct Lancers, or heroes, each equipped with unique abilities that can synergize with the Shard Cards for explosive combinations. At launch, players will have access to 20 different weapons across seven diverse maps. For those seeking variety, the game will also offer four alternative modes, including a variant of Call of Duty’s Infected mode called ‘Outbreak, ’ a ‘one shot, one kill’ option, and both sniper and melee-exclusive deathmatch challenges.
Set to launch on March 6 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, FragPunk is designed to keep the momentum going with ongoing content updates. Each season will span four months, featuring mid-season refreshes known as chapters. Players can anticipate the arrival of Chapter 2 in early May and Season 2 by July. To sweeten the deal for early adopters, participating gamers will be rewarded with a complimentary weapon skin set and additional in-game items.
