The model numbers caught the attention of gaming enthusiasts and were subsequently linked by Twitter user Huang514613 to an official filing with the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC).This filing included images of both handhelds. The designations suggest that the white variant represents the standard Asus ROG Ally 2, while the black model features an Xbox button, hinting at its Xbox branding.

Specifications Revealed

Further insights from Huang514613’s discoveries exposed some intriguing specifications displayed on the back labels of the devices. The RC73YA model is expected to feature:

• A 4-core AMD AERITH Plus CPU
• 16GB of RAM
• A thermal design power (TDP) rating of up to 20 watts

In contrast, the RC73XA is rumored to deliver superior performance with:

• An 8-core Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU
• 32GB of RAM
• A TDP rating of up to 35 watts

The rumors about Asus and Microsoft working together on an Xbox-branded handheld have circulated for some time. Recently, Asus hinted at their innovative plans, while an Xbox social media account playfully responded with a meme suggesting forthcoming announcements related to Xbox.

This ASUS-made portable gaming device appears to be an initial step in Microsoft’s broader ambitions for handheld gaming. A recent report from Windows Central indicates that a fully-fledged Xbox portable console developed by Microsoft is slated for release in 2027, coinciding with the expected launch of the next-gen Xbox Series X.
