In Elden Ring: Nightreign, field bosses provide players with an excellent opportunity to farm runes essential for leveling up. Typically, these bosses are revealed on Day 2, requiring players to either wait or explore lesser-known locales, such as desolate fields, to locate them earlier.

Fortunately, one consistent location is the Castle, which remains fixed regardless of the shifting terrain or varying fortifications and ruins scattered throughout the map. Positioned centrally, this castle is an accessible landmark for players aiming to find strength and rewards.

Within the Castle, players can encounter formidable foes that yield substantial rune drops. Uniquely, two specific areas within the Castle—the rooftop and the basement—always feature a field boss.

However, the challenge levels of these bosses can vary significantly. For instance, you might face the Ancient Hero of Zamor, a relatively easier opponent, or the more formidable Bell Bearing Hunter should luck not be on your side. Fortunately, the same select bosses will spawn in these locations, increasing your preparedness for these battles.

Navigating to the Castle Bosses

To reach the bosses efficiently, follow these guidelines:

  1. Start at the Site of Grace located to the north of the castle. Head south where you will find stairs leading up to the castle.
  2. Ascend the Stairs: Expect to encounter a Crucible Knight, a Banished Knight, or a troll along the way. Turn right, jump onto the platform, and proceed straight before turning left to enter what appears to be a hall with a dining table.
  3. Continuing Forward: Upon entering, turn right and follow the path that ascends a few sets of stairs leading you to the roof.

To access the basement, locate a river on the map connected to the castle. You can approach this path from either side to eventually reach the drainage channel.

Finding the Boss’s Room: Enter through the entrance shown in the accompanying image. Depending on your entry point, you may need to navigate left or right to arrive at the boss’s chamber in the basement.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Castle Roof Bosses

Here is a list of the ten possible bosses you can find on the castle’s roof:

Tree Sentinel

Difficulty Easy Weakness Lightning

The Tree Sentinel is your introductory boss on the rooftop, often the first players face when engaging in the game. Familiarity with his attack patterns can be a significant advantage.

During his first phase, he performs a series of swings with his Golden Halberd. Although these attacks are relatively easy to dodge, a misstep can lead to serious damage. As the fight progresses into his second phase, he becomes more aggressive, executing AOE attacks that can catch you off guard.

Magma Wyrm

Difficulty Easy Weakness Standard, Slash, Pierce, Sleep

Another easy encounter is the Magma Wyrm, which presents a less mobile yet hazardous opponent. Firing molten projectiles and creating deadly discharges, this beast also utilizes its Curved Greatsword in melee attacks.

Incorporating a unique spin attack, players should roll into the boss during this maneuver. Overall, the Magma Wyrm’s relatively slow speed makes it less challenging to defeat, depending on your playstyle.

Erdtree Avatar

Difficulty Easy Weakness Fire, Strike

The Erdtree Avatar resembles a massive tree husk equipped with a powerful staff. It attacks with crushing blows and stomps, employing a variety of melee moves that should be easily predicted.

In addition to smashing enemies with its staff, the boss can also unleash a damaging AOE ground pound attack. Players should remain vigilant to combat its golden homing projectiles effectively.

Ulcerated Tree Spirit

Difficulty Easy Weakness Fire, Frostbite

The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is a larger adversary, providing a larger hitbox for players to dominate. Its attack patterns are simple to read, allowing players to dodge effectively.

Watch out, however, for its biting lung attack and its fire-generating attacks that can quickly devastate unsuspecting players. Keeping your distance and timing your dodges will ensure a successful encounter.

Draconic Tree Sentinel

Difficulty Medium Weakness Standard, Slash, Pierce

The difficulty spikes with the Draconic Tree Sentinel (DTS), a stronger variant of the Tree Sentinel. Initially, his greatclaw attacks can inflict AOE damage, so be cautious in your positioning.

In the second phase, expect devastating lightning strikes aimed at your positioning, making precise dodging essential. As with other bosses, familiarity with DTS’s moves will aid immensely in this encounter.

Royal Carian Knight

Difficulty Medium Weakness Lightning

The Royal Carian Knight, known as Royal Knight Loretta, challenges players with her arsenal of glintblade magic and powerful melee attacks. Her ability to control the battlefield using homing magical swords necessitates quick reflexes and careful dodging.

Players should adapt their strategy as the fight progresses, adjusting for her increasing number of attacks in the second phase. Take advantage of timing and positioning to secure victory.

Ancestor Spirit

Difficulty Medium Weakness Fire, Holy

The Ancestor Spirit, while slow, employs elusive movement patterns that can frustrate melee combatants. Ranged fighters will benefit from safely whittling down its health.

This boss’s mobility and blue flame abilities can create challenges, so understanding its attack patterns will be crucial for a successful encounter.

Black Blade Kindred

Difficulty Hard Weakness Strike

The Black Blade Kindred is a formidable foe featuring a wide array of attacks, including two weapon types that challenge your adaptability. Staying patient and managing your distance during the duel will help maximize your chances of victory.

Bell Bearing Hunter

Difficulty Hard Weakness Lightning, Pierce

The Bell Bearing Hunter may strike fear into players, able to appear in various locations, including the castle roof or as a Night 1 boss. Sporting impressive HP and poise, this enemy necessitates a strategic approach to combat.

Mastering its moveset will improve your chances, but consider avoiding this encounter if unprepared, as the battle could become drawn-out and taxing.

Death Rite Bird

Difficulty Hard Weakness Holy, Strike

The Death Rite Bird embodies the characteristics of a particularly daunting boss, executing swift and varied attacks that can leave players overwhelmed. With its ranged flame attacks and flying capabilities, this adversary is notorious for serving up frustrations.

Due to its demanding nature, many players are advised to steer clear of this confrontation, as the potential rewards may not justify the struggle in time and resources.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Castle Basement Bosses

These are the seven bosses you might encounter in the basement of the Castle:

Ancient Hero of Zamor

Difficulty Easy Weakness Fire, Lightning

The Ancient Hero of Zamor is a manageable opponent, featuring slow movements and ice-based attacks that are straightforward to counter.

Leonine Misbegotten

Difficulty Easy Weakness Slash, Fire

Highly manageable, the Leonine Misbegotten doesn’t attack too frequently, allowing players time to dodge and counterattack effectively.

Black Knife Assassin

Difficulty Easy Weakness Standard, Slash, Strike, Frostbite

The Black Knife Assassin provides a fast-paced challenge that may frustrate players, yet remains manageable with proper timing and strategy.

Grafted Scion

Difficulty Medium Weakness Bleed, Slash, Frostbite

Given its extensive combos, the Grafted Scion demands careful planning and caution from players, making it a more challenging encounter within the basement.

Red Wolf of the King Consort

Difficulty Medium Weakness Slash

The Red Wolf of the King Consort shares similarities with its counterpart, Red Wolf of Radagon, showcasing unpredictable movements that can create chaos on the battlefield.

Bell Bearing Hunter

Difficulty Hard Weakness Lightning, Pierce

Like its rooftop version, the basement variant of the Bell Bearing Hunter retains the same level of menace, challenging players to master its attacks over time.

Royal Revenant

Difficulty Hard Weakness Slash

The Royal Revenant stands out as one of the toughest adversaries within Elden Ring, known for its teleportation ability and destructive melee attacks that can easily lead to a swift defeat if unprepared.

Players are strongly advised to strategize and familiarize themselves with its attack patterns before engaging, as the risks often outweigh the rewards.
