Dragon Age: The Veilguard Updates Come to a Halt

After a decade-long hiatus, fans were treated to a new installment in the Dragon Age series with the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard last year. This long-anticipated role-playing game introduced players to an engaging fantasy world. However, BioWare has recently announced a significant shift regarding future content for the franchise, confirming that The Veilguard will not receive any additional post-launch content.

End of Regular Updates

Following the arrival of Patch 5, which primarily delivered a solitary quality-of-life enhancement alongside extensive bug fixes, BioWare noted in a recent statement that they will be ceasing regular updates for the game. This announcement has led many fans to interpret the move as a final farewell.

Hey everyone,

Thank you all for playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard; we were so happy with the game’s stability at launch and hope you have enjoyed our Quality of Life patches since then. With the game being in a stable place, we are moving to monitor for any game-breaking bugs should those occur. Dareth shiral!

Patch 5 Overview

Patch 5 brought the following enhancements to the game:

Quality of Life Changes:

  • Recommended levels have now been incorporated into side quests, benefiting players engaging in them at much lower levels.

Bug Fixes:

  • Resolved an issue where Rook could engage in romantic dialogue with Lucanis only during a specific conversation.
  • Addressed a bug with the “Regrets of The Dread Wolf”quest that either failed to trigger properly or blocked Rook with an invisible wall in the Crossroads.
  • Fixed a puzzle blocking issue in the Converged City region of the Crossroads.
  • Corrected a problem with the “Imperium’s Resolve” armor, which was inflicting an unintended negative damage value.
  • Eliminated excessive clipping issues on Taash’s “Rivain’s Legacy” armor.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented certain Rooks from modifying their lyrium dagger runes.
  • Fixed a glitch in the Medium Armor Mastery skill for Warriors.
  • Addressed a bug on Rivain’s beach where Rook could become trapped in a drowning cycle.
  • Corrected a typo found in a note collectible in Dock Town.
  • Improved the quality of screenshots taken in photo mode with HDR settings enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where the location of photo mode screenshots was displayed continuously on the screen.
  • Resolved a flickering problem with fireflies in the opening area of the Crossroads on certain settings.
  • Corrected lighting issues in a team conversation at the Lighthouse.
  • Addressed a zoom functionality issue in the Mirror of Transformation interface.
  • Updated the Objective Marker Visibility when changing exploration presets.
  • Made various adjustments to the game credits.

Looking Forward

In earlier communications, BioWare confirmed that their development teams are now concentrated on the next installment of Mass Effect, with no additional story-driven content in development for The Veilguard. EA has also disclosed that while the RPG attracted 1.5 million players, it fell short of its expectations, missing its targets by approximately 50%.In addition, the game director for Veilguard departed from BioWare earlier this year to explore other opportunities within the RPG landscape.
