Death Stranding 2: Quick Travel Guide – Navigating On the Beach

Exploring Fast Travel in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach offers players a unique experience within the expansive open-world genre, continuing the legacy of the critically acclaimed original title developed by Kojima Productions. While many games feature fast travel as a standard mechanic, this sequel introduces an intriguing twist that enhances the gameplay experience, tailored specifically for its richly designed world.
Unlocking Fast Travel
In contrast to many open-world games where fast travel is readily available, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach requires players to earn this feature. It becomes accessible only after defeating the formidable giant BT mech during Order 12 in Episode 3. Once this challenge is conquered, players can connect the West Fort Knot to the Chiral Network. Following a series of cutscenes, the fast travel option will be unlocked, allowing for expedient movement throughout the game world.
How Fast Travel Works
Players can utilize fast travel to jump between locations that have been deemed safe, such as cities and established points connected to the Chiral Network. The process is simple: access the map via the Ring menu, press and hold the X button to Chart a Course for the DHV Megallan, and select a marked location indicated by a blue icon. This feature not only saves time but also enables players to revisit earlier areas, such as Mexico, to strengthen relationships with characters encountered early in their journey.
The Role of Fast Travel in Gameplay
While the introduction of fast travel may suggest a reduced emphasis on traversal techniques, the game’s design encourages players to carefully consider its use. Notably, when delivering cargo to destinations accessible via fast travel, players still earn the Magellan evaluation. Aspiring to achieve the highest evaluations will compel players to engage in traditional traversal methods, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
In essence, the fast travel mechanic in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach strikes a balance between convenience and challenge, allowing players to navigate its expansive world while still preserving the need for strategic planning and exploration.
