Dune: Awakening to Showcase Mid to Endgame Features Next Week

Exciting Announcement: Dune: Awakening Live Stream Scheduled
Funcom has officially announced a live stream event for its highly anticipated game, Dune: Awakening, set to take place on Wednesday, May 28, at 6 PM CEST. The stream will be accessible on Twitch and YouTube. During the event, developers will dive into the mid to endgame content, providing insights for both PvE and PvP enthusiasts. While many details remain under wraps, excitement continues to build within the gaming community.
Game Structure: Clans, Factions, and Epic PvP Battles
In Dune: Awakening, players will form clans and can choose to align themselves with one of the iconic Great Houses—the Atreides or the Harkonnen. Competition will be fierce, particularly in the expansive Deep Desert PvP map, which, according to Funcom’s Game Director Joel Bylos, spans approximately 500 square kilometers. This vast landscape is designed to accommodate hundreds of players simultaneously, promising epic battles and thrilling encounters.
Players can look forward to weekly map refreshes due to the lore-infused Coriolis sandstorms, which will unveil new points of interest and dynamic gameplay scenarios. The primary objective revolves around harvesting valuable Spice, but the game also integrates a complex politics system, the Landsraad, allowing players to vote on critical issues that could alter the in-game world significantly.
Insights from the Closed Beta Test
Recently, thousands of players participated in the Closed Beta Test weekend, which focused on the early game content. This phase encompassed approximately 20-25 hours of gameplay, revealing around 25% of the Hagga Basin map. Despite being limited in scope, players engaged in impressive feats during the testing period:
- 107, 000 player deaths caused by Shai-Hulud (the iconic sandworm)
- 214, 000 vehicles crafted for desert navigation
- Nearly 10 million scavenger enemies defeated
- 151, 000 liters of water consumed
- 8.7 million liters of blood extracted from enemies
- 10, 000 vehicles lost to treacherous sandstorms
- Over 65, 000 players perished from sun exposure
Launch Details and Special Pre-Order Offers
Dune: Awakening is set to launch on June 10 for PC, boasting NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support to enhance visual performance. Players who pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition can gain access to the game earlier, beginning June 5. This approach ensures that early adopters can immerse themselves in the gripping world of Arrakis ahead of the broader release.
