Celebrating 15 Years of the God Eater Video Game Series

God Eater Series Celebrates 15th Anniversary
On February 4, 2025, the God Eater franchise marked a significant milestone, celebrating its 15th anniversary. Bandai Namco, the series’ publisher, commemorated this occasion by sharing a new illustration via a tweet on the series’ official Japanese X account.
Commemorative Artwork Featuring Iconic Characters
The newly released artwork showcases beloved characters from all three mainline installments of the God Eater series. The featured characters include Soma Schicksal and Alisa Illinichna Amiella from the original God Eater, Julius Visconti and Ciel Alencon from God Eater 2, as well as Hugo Pennywort and Claire Victorious from God Eater 3. Additionally, Bandai Namco announced plans to produce and sell merchandise inspired by these illustrations, providing fans with enticing new collectibles.
Reflections from the Creators
Key contributors to the God Eater series, including Yusuke Tomizawa and Hiroshi Yoshimura, took to their X accounts to express their excitement and gratitude for reaching this anniversary. Tomizawa has recently been appointed to oversee the Tales Of series, while Yoshimura continues to serve as the general director for God Eater.
A Lesson from the Past: Anniversary Celebrations
In 2020, Bandai Namco had ambitious plans to host several major events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series. However, these plans were thwarted by global lockdowns resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, the company opted for more understated celebrations, including the launch of temporary merchandise stores. Since the release of God Eater 3 in Japan in December 2018, the series has not seen a new game, leaving fans eagerly awaiting future developments.
A Look Back: The Origins of God Eater
The inaugural God Eater title debuted on the PlayStation Portable in Japan on February 4, 2010. This beloved series has expanded through enhanced mainline titles—God Eater Resurrection, God Eater 2 Rage Burst, and God Eater 3—which are playable on PlayStation 4 and PC. Notably, the first two entries were also available on PlayStation Vita, while God Eater 3 made its way to the Nintendo Switch as well, broadening its reach and accessibility to gamers.
As the franchise celebrates this significant anniversary, fans continue to engage with the series’ rich lore and exciting gameplay, looking forward to what the future holds for God Eater.
