The Easter Egg quest in Citadelle Des Morts is arguably one of the most perplexing and layered to date, even with assistance available in Directed Mode. Once gamers gather the incantations through a sequence of four essential rituals, the next task involves utilizing swords and incantations on the knights according to the order illustrated in the Undercroft Stairway. This step may come off as somewhat misleading, but it can be achieved with clarity. Here’s how to navigate through this quest.
How to Use Swords & Incantations on the Knights in the Undercroft Stairway
Determining the Correct Order
To start, players must venture to the Undercroft Stairway, accessed through the Alchemical Lab, to establish the correct sequence. Upon arrival, they will observe four distinct symbols adorning the stairway wall, each associated with a Roman numeral.
These symbols dictate the sequence in which players are to apply the swords and incantations to the knights to progress in the quest. Each symbol represents one knight located in the Dining Hall, as indicated by matching symbols on their armor. Although the order may vary in different game sessions of Citadelle Des Morts, players can easily interpret it using the Roman numerals provided.
Activating the Knights
With the order deciphered, players should proceed to the Dining Hall to activate the knight statues. This process involves employing the appropriate incantation, followed by inspecting the sword belonging to each knight in the specified sequence outlined in the Undercroft Stairway. A knight is considered activated once it salutes and begins to emanate a glowing aura.

- Dragon Knight: Apply the Fire Incantation, then inspect the Caliburn Sword.
- Lion Knight: Use the Light Incantation, then inspect the Solais Sword.
