The Belly of the Beast Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The main quest titled The Belly of the Beast in Assassin’s Creed Shadows centers around Naoe’s intense mission to track down and eliminate Oba Nobunaga, whom she suspects of being an accomplice in her father’s death. This quest offers a mix of intrigue and stealth gameplay, demanding strategic thinking and careful execution from players.
Your journey begins by meeting Ise Sadaoki, an ally of Mitsuhide, and involves a critical stealth operation aimed at securing vital documents. While the quest may not be lengthy, it presents significant challenges, particularly for those less familiar with stealth mechanics.
Overview of The Belly of the Beast
To initiate the quest, players should proceed to Yamashiro to report to Ise Sadaoki. Fortunately, the game conveniently marks a waypoint on the map, which eliminates the need for scouting. Upon reaching the docks where Sadaoki is located, Naoe engages him, explaining her mission under Mitsuhide’s directives, though her explanation appears to fall on deaf ears.
The interaction includes a dialogue choice between “I have offended you” and “I will show you my skills.” Embracing a confident persona for Naoe, I opted for “show my skills, ” yet players are free to choose their preferred response. Regardless of the choice made, Sadaoki’s dismissive attitude compels Naoe to proceed to her next objective: “Retrieve the Papers.”
Retrieving the Papers
Moving on to the primary task of retrieving the vital documents, players will notice the absence of an immediate waypoint for the exact location of the papers, prompting them to rely on clues instead.The documents are said to be located in the central area of Kyoto, west of the Nanban Temple in Yamashiro. While players can explore to locate them, images showcasing the exact spot are available in the accompanying guide.
Upon arriving at the designated location, which is within a small fortress, players will find the papers housed inside a building on the western side. Utilizing the Observe function is recommended to easily identify the papers represented by a distinct blue dot.
Be aware that the area is patrolled by a number of guards, necessitating a careful approach. An effective strategy is to ascend to the outer walls of the structure and employ the Kunai to discreetly eliminate enemies from a distance. In my experience, I only needed to take down three guards to proceed undetected.
Once inside the building, a single soldier will be stationed by the documents. Players can either stealthily approach and carry out an assassination or opt to use a Kunai for a ranged attack. After securing the papers, make your swift exit from the fortress and return to Ise Sadaoki to deliver the retrieved documents.
Following a brief cutscene, you will transition into the next quest, “Temple of the Horseman, ”thus continuing your thrilling journey through the world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
