Another Persona 4 Voice Actor Confirms Non-Return for Persona 4 Remake

Notable Voice Actors Confirm Absence from Persona 4 Remake
In a recent development, Yuri Lowenthal announced on BlueSky that he would not be reprising his role as Yosuke in the anticipated Persona 4 Remake. This project has generated buzz among fans, although it remains unconfirmed by the developers. Lowenthal’s post stirred speculation as he hinted at a passionate desire to return, even suggesting he “begged”for the opportunity, which he subsequently deleted, leading many to question the motivations behind his message.
Following Lowenthal’s revelation, Erin Fitzgerald also took to BlueSky to share her own news. The voice of Chie Satonaka stated, “For those asking, I have not been asked to reprise my role as Chie Satonaka in the Persona 4 remake. RIP. I am blessed to have recorded as many Persona 4 games as I did playing her.”This announcement added weight to the emerging narrative that several core voice actors would not be returning for the remake.
The situation escalated as Amanda Winn Lee joined the discussion, revealing on X (formerly Twitter) that she too would not be reprising her role as Yukiko. She stated, “Since I’ve had several people ask me: No, I wasn’t asked to voice Yukiko in the P4 remake.”This consistent pattern of absences from key voice actors has sparked intrigue across the gaming community.
Initial interpretations suggested a collective displeasure regarding the lack of communication from developers Atlus and SEGA. However, with a third actor confirming their absence, the narrative has shifted towards a potential marketing strategy, particularly with Summer Game Fest looming on the horizon and an official reveal expected soon.
Interestingly, a user on BlueSky noted that the sequence of these announcements mirrors the order in which the respective characters join your party in Persona 4. Should Matt Mercer announce a similar absence regarding his role as Kanji Tatsumi, it would strengthen the hypothesis that this is a cleverly orchestrated marketing campaign to generate excitement surrounding the upcoming remake.
There’s speculation that the title might not even be Persona 4 Remake, potentially adopting a new name akin to how the Persona 3 remake was labeled Persona 3 Reload. This leads to further questions about the fate of the original voice cast—perhaps they are returning in appropriate roles for whatever this new installment turns out to be.
