Where to Find Painter’s Brush in Avowed
The Painter’s Brush can be located in a treasure chest found within the Emerald Stair, the game’s second open region. To reach it, head directly south from the Wildwood Outskirts Party Camp, which is situated across the bridge in the northwest area of Fior mes Iverno.
To obtain the Painter’s Brush, navigate to the map marker depicted in the images above. From the campsite, proceed straight south until you reach the edge of the cliff. A cave can be found nestled in the lower portion of the cliff wall, housing the Painter’s Brush inside a chest.
The surroundings of both the camp and cave are relatively secure, with minimal enemy presence. This is beneficial, given that the monsters in this area possess Exceptional quality and above. To thrive in such conditions, you should equip yourself with gear of similar quality; otherwise, your attacks may cause reduced damage or fail to affect targets altogether.

Painter’s Brush is a straightforward accessory that fits into your Amulet slot, offering a 5% increase to critical hit chance. While this boost may seem modest, few items in the game provide similar enhancements. This accessory proves particularly advantageous for high-damage melee builds, compensating for a potential lack of magical attacks.
For optimal effectiveness, it’s best to combine Painter’s Brush with the Critical Strike passive from the Ranger skill tree, which grants an additional crit chance of 25%, plus an extra 3-9% depending on your equipped weapon. To focus heavily on critical hits, consider also unlocking the Devastating Criticals skill from the Fighter Tree to maximize your critical strike damage output.
