- The latest update for Avowed, version 1.2.3, addresses critical questline glitches, enhances companion AI performance, and resolves various audio issues, contributing to an improved player experience.
- Despite facing initial technical challenges, Avowed quickly became a top seller on Steam, indicating its popularity among gamers.
- While the developers at Obsidian have ruled out the addition of a New Game Plus mode, they have hinted at the possibility of future paid downloadable content (DLC) if the game maintains its popularity.
Obsidian Entertainment has rolled out Update 1.2.3 for Avowed, continuing its commitment to refine the action RPG following its launch. This recent patch introduces several crucial fixes designed to enhance gameplay and user satisfaction.
Launched earlier this month, Avowed represents the latest endeavor from Obsidian, receiving favorable reviews overall with an average critic score of 81 on OpenCritic. Players appreciated the game’s rich story, lore, and exploration, although many noted that technical bugs significantly impacted their experience. The studio is actively addressing these concerns with ongoing updates.
The 1.2.3 update rectifies a range of issues, including critical glitches that halted quest progression in stories like “A Path to the Garden” and “Message from Afar.”Significant gameplay adjustments have also been made, such as altering the damage reduction and cooldown for the Arcane Veil ability, as well as enhancing companion AI to ensure they perform better in combat scenarios. Many gamers had highlighted the unreliable behavior of companions during battles, making this improvement a welcome change. Additionally, the patch includes various audio corrections to rectify discrepancies in sound execution as intended by the developers.
This patch follows the Day One update, which was significant in scope and addressed player feedback gathered during the early access phase, focusing on various bugs and optimizing equipment tier functionality.
Despite the glitches present at launch, Avowed’s debut was marked by success, quickly becoming a top seller on Steam’s US market. This achievement is noteworthy, especially since players could access the game through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, while those purchasing it directly on Steam faced a $70 price tag.
While the recent updates have brought much-needed fixes, it appears that substantial new features will be limited in future free updates. Earlier this month, Obsidian confirmed that there will be no New Game Plus mode and indicated that its focus may shift towards potential paid DLC based on the game’s ongoing success.
