Square Enix Celebrates 15 Years of NieR with Special Music Stream

In a move to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the beloved NieR video game franchise, Square Enix has announced its upcoming event titled “NieR Summer Vacation – Request Hour.” This exclusive game music live stream is scheduled to take place on YouTube on July 6, 2025. Esteemed creators Keiichi Okabe and Yoko Taro have confirmed their participation, promising an exciting experience for fans of the series.

Event Details

The stream will be divided into two segments, providing a unique opportunity for fans to engage with the music of the NieR series. Viewers can request their favorite tracks during the first segment beginning at 2 AM ET / 3 PM JST, accessible through Niconico.

Segment Breakdown

  • First Segment – Drive DJ: This part will exclusively feature music from the NieR franchise.
  • Second Segment: Starting at 6 AM ET / 7 PM JST, notable figures associated with the series will join the stream, including producer Yosuke Saito and designer Takahisa Taura, alongside Okabe and Taro.

Okabe and MONACA have collaborated on a project titled Square Enix Vocal Covers: Timeless Classics, which was released on June 25, 2025, in Japan. This album features iconic tracks such as “Weight of the World” from NieR: Automata and “Kaine / Salvation” from NieR Replicant and Gestalt.

The NieR series initially launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a remastered version of NieR Replicant made available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
