Overview
- Ninja Gaiden 2 Black has been revitalized using the advanced Unreal Engine 5.
- The game is now available for players on Xbox Game Pass.
- Also revealed during the Xbox Developer Direct is Ninja Gaiden 4, set to join Game Pass this fall.
At the recent Xbox Developer Direct, it was officially announced that Ninja Gaiden 2 Black has been launched immediately for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Since its inception in 2004, the Ninja Gaiden series has maintained a strong association with the Xbox brand, having premiered with an Xbox-exclusive reboot. Following that, the series continued its Xbox roots with the release of Ninja Gaiden 2 exclusively for the Xbox 360 in 2008. Over the years, the franchise expanded to multiple platforms.
A remastered adaptation called Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was created for the PS3, leading to its eventual release across a variety of platforms such as PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Now, Ninja Gaiden 2 is making yet another return, this time with the unveiling of its upgraded edition, which is accessible via Xbox Game Pass starting today.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: Enhanced Experience
This latest iteration, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, has seen significant graphical improvements achieved through the utilization of Unreal Engine 5. Marketed as the definitive experience of Ninja Gaiden 2, this version encompasses all previously available bonus content, including additional playable characters and enhanced battle support functionalities. Players on both PC and Xbox Series X can dive into Ninja Gaiden 2 Black through their Game Pass Ultimate subscription. However, it remains uncertain whether this title will also be available for PlayStation consoles.
The Future of Ninja Gaiden
The excitement doesn’t end with Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. The Xbox Developer Direct also revealed that Ninja Gaiden 4 is currently under development as a collaboration between Team Ninja and PlatinumGames. Much like its predecessor, it will be available on day one for Xbox Game Pass and is also confirmed to launch on PS5, although a specific release date is still pending, with a projected window set for fall 2025.
As if Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Ninja Gaiden 4 weren’t enough to excite fans, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound is also in progress. A nostalgic throwback to the franchise’s roots with its NES origins, Ragebound is expected to be released in 2025 as well. Should everything go as planned, fans can look forward to enjoying three new titles by the end of the year.
