Skyblivion Project Delivers First Glimpse with New Video

In an exciting announcement, Rebelzize, the Project Lead for Skyblivion, shared the initial fifteen minutes of this ambitious fan-made remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, built using the Skyrim engine. This early footage highlights the iconic tutorial segment, where the imprisoned protagonist joins Emperor Uriel Septim during a desperate attempt to evade the infamous Mythic Dawn assassination.

Remarkable Visual Enhancements

The video showcases significant visual upgrades, particularly in character models. The updated textures and hair design bring a new level of realism when compared to the original Oblivion. Players will also notice an innovative feature in ingredient collection; items are visually removed in real time as they’re gathered. The dedicated modding team has meticulously redesigned every piece of armor, weapon, clothing, and even miscellaneous items in the game.

New Gameplay Elements

Skyblivion’s lockpicking system integrates classic mechanics while incorporating features inspired by The Elder Scrolls Online, enhancing the overall gameplay experience. Additionally, the sound design has received a substantial overhaul. Players can expect weapons to feel more impactful during combat, complemented by a collection of new ambient music tracks that enrich the atmospheric experience.

Dynamic Environmental Details

The team has put considerable effort into ensuring that dungeons reflect their respective regions accurately. For instance, during the tutorial dungeon sequence, players will be treated to a view of the Imperial Isle and can hear the enchanting sounds of local birds chirping from an overhead opening. Remake loading screens now feature an engaging ‘interactive layered art’ style, while both new and revised tooltips guide players through the game’s various systems effectively. Furthermore, the birth sign user interface and class selection menus have been entirely revamped for a cleaner, more intuitive user experience.

The development team is actively seeking volunteers, particularly those experienced in nav mesh, quest design, and UI optimization. Despite the ongoing work, they aim for a release in 2025, which was initially hinted at in early 2023, as the team gears up for one last crucial development phase.
