In the vast world of Monster Hunter Wilds, players will encounter a variety of formidable creatures, one of the first being the Quematrice, a giant, chicken-like brute wyvern. While this encounter is generally manageable for novice hunters, the fight may escalate in difficulty as the monster becomes more enraged during the battle.

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the Quematrice, focusing on its elemental weaknesses, strategic tips for combat, and essential information to help you secure a successful hunt.

The Quematrice distinguishes itself not only by its unique appearance but also by its behavior, reminiscent of a large chicken. Hunters can typically find it roaming in the Plains and Wyveria regions.

Identifying the Weaknesses of the Quematrice

The Quematrice has a notable vulnerability to the Water element, making it an excellent choice for those seeking to exploit its weaknesses. In addition, utilizing Poison and Paralysis can yield effective results. While it exhibits some resistance to Sleep, Blastblight, Stun, and Exhaust, these elements are less effective compared to Water attacks.

Strategies for Engaging the Quematrice

This clever beast challenges hunters to anticipate its movements. A key tactic employed by the Quematrice is its ability to spread a flammable substance on the ground, often forming a circle or crescent shape around itself. When it ignites this oil with its tail swipe, it creates a fiery barrier that can inflict significant damage if you get too close.

While this substance poses no immediate threat until ignited, you can disrupt the attack sequence to prevent the Quematrice from setting it ablaze by delivering a strong knockback before it initiates the ignition. Additionally, any direct exposure to its flame attacks can result in Fireblight, which drains your health rapidly. You can mitigate the effects by performing a roll to extinguish the flames.

If you manage to sever its tail, be prepared for a more aggressive combat style, although the monster will inflict less fire damage following this injury. To further enhance your chances of success, bring along Flash Pods to briefly stun and interrupt the Quematrice during the fight.
