Monster Hunter Wilds Team to Discuss Performance Optimization Amid Ongoing Issues

In an unexpected announcement, the development team behind Monster Hunter Wilds is set to present a talk focusing on performance optimization techniques later this month, even as players continue to grapple with various technical challenges within the game.

Scheduled for July 24, the talk will feature programmer Yuichi Ito and AI Engineer Takanori Nakamura at CEDEC 2025, Japan’s premier conference for game developers. During their session, they will explore the difficulties encountered in optimizing this latest entry in the Monster Hunter series. Remarkably, they claim to have successfully “maintained stable operation”despite the game’s performance issues, a statement that many find ironic given the struggles experienced on anything less than high-end PC hardware, particularly when leveraging techniques like upscaling and frame generation.

Persistent Performance Challenges Post-Launch

Now several months post-launch, the performance of Monster Hunter Wilds continues to elicit disappointment, echoing its initial release in February. The recently released Title Update 2 introduced some improvements regarding VRAM utilization but failed to resolve the myriad issues still plaguing the game. Additionally, this update unfortunately brought new stability problems, leading to crashes across diverse system configurations. Fortunately, the team has indicated plans to address these concerns with an upcoming patch, version 1.020.01.00, anticipated for release soon.

Upcoming Patch Promises Key Fixes

This new patch aims to rectify various performance setbacks identified in the PC version of the game, specifically targeting instability that arises when players equip ranged weapons. The continuous feedback from the gaming community is crucial as developers work hard to restore player confidence and improve the overall gaming experience.

[Notice] We plan to distribute the patch “Ver.1.020.01.00” to all platforms on the evening of July 1st (Tuesday) or tomorrow morning, July 2nd (Wednesday).*Please wait for future information regarding the distribution date and time.■Planned patch contents…pic.twitter.com/HyrjOnztrp

As the development team prepares to share insights into their optimization strategies, players are left hoping for tangible improvements that enhance gameplay performance throughout the Monster Hunter Wilds experience. The road to recovery may be long, but anticipation remains high for the forthcoming patch and any impactful revelations from the team’s upcoming presentation.
