The young Undead player claimed the top spot at last weekend's European qualifier for BlizzCon 2008. Lucifron and SaSe will accompany the Russian after ending second and third.
Happy lost only one map throughout the whole tournament. It came against ToD in the first round, but he could turn it around and win against the French Human as well. He stormed his way through winners bracket, and could then eliminate SaSe in the grand final. SaSe tried with Orc instead of his usual Night Elf in the first round of the final match, but did not pull through with the effect he wanted. In the second game, he went back to Night Elf, but it just was not enough against Happy's stable play.
Lucifron, playing on homefield, surely made a name of himself in this tournament, defeating LiiLD.C, Creolophus and ToD, which eventually granted him a third place and will attend his first offline international tournament later this October.
Returner Creolophus did not perform the same shocking results as in World Cyber Games 2007, but was able to defeat KnOfF in the losers bracket.
The two pre-hand favorites, ToD and Grubby failed to qualify for their conventional BlizzCon tournaments. Grubby was kncoked down in the losers bracket by SaSe, only to then lose to ToD in the second round. ToD ended in fourth place, after losing to Lucifron in the losers bracket semis.
Europe's roster in the BlizzCon 2008 final is remarkably young. Youngest is Lucifron, 16 years old, while Happy has turned 17. SaSe is a bit older, 20 years of age. Compare that to the regular attendees Grubby and ToD, who are 22 and 23 years old.
