The Swedish Orc player Fredrik "KnOfF" Knopf faced the Human star from Gravitas XyLigan. The latter was, of course, predicted to take a rather comfortable win, but the Orc put up some fierce resistance and won two maps in a row. The games were played on Secret Valley and Lost Temple and KnOfF won surprisingly easy.
In the pre-match statement, however, XyLigan mentions that he was playing under the influence of alcohol and it is unknown if this really was the case or if the Russian was merely joking. If so, it's no wonder if the Swede won since it's a known fact that micromanagement and alcohol do not go well together. Regardless, this was a very important win for KnOfF as he's now closed the gap to the top three players in his group.
In the two other games yesterday the two Undead players elfittaja and HasuObs smashed their opponents in two straight maps. With XyLigan losing, Samuli "elfittaja" Sihvonen now advanced to first place in the group as he's won all of his group stage matches so far. To remain at this position, however, he'll have to put on a good show in his last two games against XyLigan and HasuObs, who are both right behind him in the Group A table.
Tomorrow the playday continues with matches from Group B and C and is rounded off with the Group D matches next week. As you can see from the table below, there is a ton of top matches to look forward to featuring some of Europe's very best players. A match to keep an extra eye on is between LiiLD.C and DowaQ. They are two of the most talented Swedish players and are very evenly matched. Also, Rob will try his luck against the recently crowned IEF champion ToD.

The third playday of the ESL Extreme Masters kicked off yesteday with three interesting matches. When the dust had settled on the battlefield, there was one result that stood out a bit from the rest.
