While Arrow was the heavy favorite heading into this match-up, MVP certainly did not make it easy for them. The Malaysian team had a strong showing in the first game behind a sneaky Roshan kill, but the Korean team showed their strong play that boosted them into this upper bracket finals.
Arrow Gaming pulled through in the end, and they will advance to the best-of-five finals scheduled tomorrow. They will be facing the winner of the MVP.Phoenx vs MiTH.Trust/Mineski match tomorrow. The winner of the grand finals will get an outright slot into The International 4, while the runner-up will receive a slot in the wildcard tournament.
Arrow Gaming Vs MVP (Game 1)
Arrow Gaming went on an aggressive tri-lane to try shut down Lycan. They managed to claim first blood, with the combination of Ancient Apparition, Weaver, and Wraith King dominating the top lane. That gave Weaver the opportunity to farm and get an early Linken's Sphere. MVP switched lanes, sending their Lycan to the bottom lane to replace Nature's Prophet. The Malaysian team also dominated the mid and bottom towers with Razor getting kills against Nyx Assassin and Dark Seer pressuring the bottom lane with his Ion Shell.
MVP tried a split-pushing strategy, and they were able to push towers whilst they tried to avoid getting killed as much as possible. This could have been a possible game-changer in favor of MVP but, unfortunately, Arrow Gaming was too far ahead and their hero combinations were precisely executed. MVP called an early GG, and the game ended on the 27-minute mark.
Arrow Gaming Vs MVP (Game 2)
Arrow Gaming had big break early, claiming Roshan and taking first blood even before the first creep wave. Arrow Gaming went for a push-strat with Chen, Tinker and Nature’s Prophet while MVP chose Death Prophet which was also good for pushing and pressuring towers. While Arrow put the pressure on towers, the Korean team was showing strong team fight with their big AoE skills. The Malaysian team secured a tower lead, while their enemy had a hero-kill lead.
MVP continued to pick off heroes, and both Death Prophet and Slardar were able to farm items like Tarrasque, Black King Bar, and Armlet of Mordiggian. Tidehunter was able to get his Black King Bar as well. They continued to get kills until the kills ratio went in favor of MVP. The Korean team was also able to defend their towers despite Nature’s Prophet and Chen having level 3 Necrobook. Despite this though, they are not able to push out as they have to use their skills while defending as their opponent had good map control.
Despite MVP holding out on team fights, Arrow Gaming was able to split-push with their mobile heroes and were eventually able to get mega creeps. The Radiant’s Ancient was torn down in the 60-minute mark.
