TotalBiscuit announces $5,000 team league, to feature Starbow and SC2: BroodWar

The Shoutcraft Clan Wars opt to introduce a whole lot of new features as compared to regular team leagues, including new maps, 2v2 battles and games played on user created custom maps.
Sponsored by MLG and created by populart content producer TotalBiscuit, the ShoutCraft Clan Wars are designed with a great deal of flexibility and diversity. Teams will face each other in Bo7 Proleague format but the rules allow that smaller teams will be allowed Bo5 games instead. 2v2 matches will be mixed in in each series, to make for a more interesting competition.
The uniqueness of Clan Wards does not end there. Instead of implementing the standard map pool used in individual or team league tournaments, TotalBiscuit and co have turned to the map making community to feature new maps never used before in competitive StarCraft 2. A total of seven maps will be available for the first edition of the tournament - Fallen Dreams, Keru, Neo Jungle Valley, Neo Polaris Rhapsody, New Pompei, Sacred Path and Wrecking Ball - and TotalBiscuit hints there will be even more wild battlefields coming.
"Maps with half-bases? Sure. All-gold minerals? Why not? Floating destructible islands? We can do that. Raising lava? Absolutely! The sky is the limit for map design and we will be rotating out our maps on a regular basis to keep things interesting."
Apart from the new maps, Clan Wars will feature modes outside the regular StarCraft 2 version, namely the Starbow mode (a mix between StarCraft 2 and BroodWar) and StarCraft 2: BroodWar (an almost comlete remake of the original game but with the SC2 engine).
The tournament is said to begin with the release of Patch 2.1 and last an entire year. Eight teams have been announced, including Axiom, StarTale, Incredible Miracle, Mvp, Evil Geniuses, Root, My Insanity, Millenium and IvD Gaming.
