Only three foreigners made it to the quarter finals of NorthCon 2013. Vortix, Elfi and Scarlett will represent Europe and NA and will play Life, Jaedong and StarDust, respectively.

Nine non-Koreans traveled to Neumünster but only a third survive. Although in the minority at the start, the Koreans have taken prevalence in the playoffs and five of them will go against three of the Westerners today.

The first to make it out of the group was Scarlett who played two tough matches against Jjakji (3-2) and Elfi (3-1) before topping Group D. She was followed into the Round of 8 by Mousesports' Vortix who after falling to San 0-3 in the winners match of Group C came back from a 1-2 deficit against MMA to leave the renowned Korean Terran out of the competition.

At the end of the night, Elfi came out as the third foreigners to survive the group stage. His loss to Scarlett in the winners series sent him to the decider to play Jjakji and after trading set for set for the first four games, the Finnish Protoss finally prevailed, making for an all-foreign triumph in Group D.

Matches continued today at 12:00 CET, opening game is Life vs Vortix.
