The Proleague champions finally secured a GSTL win for themselves today as they bested StarTale in seven games. This keeps SouL's chances of making playoffs alive despite the small odds of this happening.
Needing a win themselves after losing the Azubu last week, StarTale opened with two of their best players Bomber and Life and victories over YoungJoo and Hwangsin put them on a two-game lead. Two games later, StarTale's advantage had disappeared after Hyvaa and Trap won their respective mirrors against Pet and Panic.
StarTale's Curious and SouL's Dear each one a piece, maintaining the equal score and so a seventh, ace match had to be played. The reigning WCS Korea champion stayed in the booth and readied to meet StarTale's own ace Life. Channeling his momentum from his overwhelming PvZ victory in the GSL grand final, Dear managed to break Life's spine as well, scoreboarding a 4-3 for his team and a long-awaited victory.
Having won this series, SouL still have real chances of making the playoffs. The Proleague champions needs to win both their matches against current GSTL leaders Azubu and AXA while crossing fingers that StarTale and AXA don't go upwards of three wins total and aiming for a better set difference indicator.
The next match for this week is AXA's first game for round two against FXOpen on October 24th, 11:00 CET.
