So far the SoundBlaster Heroes League has held qualifiers featuring only teams from the NA/EU server region. This changed with the eighth and final Qualification tournament were Cats Gaming and nxl Focus eSports.
Ever since S2 Games decided to go with the offer of Garena to run the Heroes of Newerth operations aside from the normal and traditional NA/EU region, those regions have developed serious contenders and an array of formidable teams. Spearheading that movement is Orange eSports, who already received a direct invitiation for the $40,000 USD SoundBlaster Heroes League. Two other rivals outside of the NA/EU region now get the chance to play for pride, honor, prestige and a bunch of money as well.
Cats Gaming is one of the more known squads outside of the S2 Games client, as the Russian team has been a fixture in the scene for a long time. Still the Russians never really recorded any notable victories over rivals outside of their home region, which makes this final even more special for them. Just recently the dominant force in CIS lost in the first round of the CIS Showmatch Tournament against Pikachu, to make an early departure of that prestigous event hosted by Garena.CIS. Now they get the chance to redeem themselves by facing a widely unknown participant from Indonesia.
SBHL Qualifier Final: SEA vs. CIS
Cats Gaming vs. nxl Focus eSports
Shylastylez vs. Insivon
Scorp1on vs. Cao`Keren
Room`409 vs. Legendary`M
Reoborot vs. iTsMeXeVen
FF vs. shampoooking
nxl Focus eSports never really gained huge publicity coming out of the SEA market. So far that market only has the dominant Orange eSports as the "Gold Standard" with teams like iMpunity and the disbanded squad of MuFC being known to a wider audience outside of Asia. Still nxl is not a complete newcomer as they are the best team from Indonesia, and as that had the honor to participate in the Smackdown Challenge a couple of month ago.
The main focus in that Smackdown Challenge was the rivalry of iMpunity and Zenith's captain IceIceIce, but still nxl Focus eSports played a small role in that event. As a matter of fact nxl was the first team to go against both Zenith and iMpunity in the first array of exhibition matches and split 1-1.
They played a dominant and very aggressive playstyle against both opponents, but only had very good success in their clash against Zenith. To be honest they completely destroyed Zenith with a Pebbles snowballing out of control early and a Dark Lady taking over the late game. That role switched in their match against iMpunity, who put up a dominant showing against the Indonesian team and obliterated them in their first outing in the Garena Arena. Still nxl Focus eSports made a name for themselves and are now looking for a lot more exposure with the GSL looming and a great chance to participate in the SoundBlaster Heroes League.
Tomorrow both teams and both regions will clash to determine the fifteenth participatnt for the illustrious SoundBlaster Heroes League Championship Bracket. The match is scheduled for Friday, 22nd at 11 AM CET, but will get rebroadcasted by Honcast after their weekly podcast will be done. Approximately at 22 CET the matches will be casted by BreakyCPK and his co-caster Emperor - after that everyone knows who will compete with the best teams in the world, Cats Gaming or nxl Focus eSports.
