Neither of the two foreigners were able to stand up to the Korean presence in last night's WCS America matches and so the semi finals are all about the easterners. The champion is crowned today.
One-sided is the word that best describes the quarter finals matches of June 1st. Neither series went into the full five games and by the end of the day, HerO, Alive, Ryung and Revival formed the top four of WCS America.
Australian's finest Moonglade was the first to be given the chance to defend the foreign positions and although the Nv Zerg has been playing some top notch StarCraft throughout the season and outclassed Korean Terrans TheSTC and Apocalypse in the previous round, Axiom's Ryung was too big an obstacle for him. Ryung came in for a clean sweep of the series and sent Moonglade down to the placement bracket.
With Moonglade's fall, the foreigners were down to their last man - Norway's Snute. Although the Team Liquid talent admitted he is not particularly concerned about the match against Revival and did manage to keep the tie for the first two games of the series, he ultimately faced a 1-3 ousting by EG's Zerg.
The all-Korean face-offs weren't much closer. In the PvP mirror at the top of the bracket, Liquid's HerO sliced through Axiom's Alicia giving away but a single map. Considered the favorite to claim the NA trophy, HerO now goes against another Alicia's team-mate Ryung in the semi-finals, looking forward to slay yet another Axiom player.
The third Axiom representatives - Protoss player and team captain Crank - didn't have it much easier. Forced into his worst match-up, Crank scored a deafening 0-3 loss to EG's Terran Alive and joined team-mate Alicia in the placement matches.
It was in that placement bracket that we saw the first five-game series as Moonglade fought long and hard before falling 2-3 to Alicia. To foreigner's rejoice, however, Snute recovered from his loss to Revival and ripped Crank apart 3-0 and is to play another ZvP today for the chance to advance to the seasonal finals in Korea.
The final day of WCS America begins 19:00 CET with the consolation finals, and continues on to the semi-finals at 20:00 CET. Grand final is scheduled for 23:00 CET.
