The prelude to the OSC, which will lead up to the actual OSL, came and went and already there have been some upsets. 24 groups with 6-7 people per group have played over the span of two days and the winners have been decided.
The road to the OSL is a long and harsh one, unless you have done well the previous OSL and gotten seeded into the tournament. The first step is the offline preliminaries where players get to qualify for the OGN StarChallenge. The StarChallenge, OSC, is the qualifying tournament for the OSL. Most top players have already secured positions higher up in the tournament due to earlier performance, but a few big names had to start out in the prelims this time.

The Upsets
The biggest upset came early on day one. In group E was a well known zerg named Jaedong, together with Leta and and a few lesser known players. Jaedong was cruising along and made the group finals without dropping a game. Then he ran into a young Protoss from MBC Hero named han, who defeated Jaedong 2-1 in some really nice games. That's right, Jaedong is eliminated before the tournament has even begun by a complete unknown. han played impressively well and hopefully we will see more of him in the tournament.
This wasn't the only upset. Lecaf's Lomo was taken down by MuJuK in Group A day 2. The both adored and hated firebathero met his demise at the hands of fantasy in group D the same day. The terran famed for his TvT, Canata, was taken out by the much less known terran Justin of all people. Other names that will not be seen include BoxeR, Lucifer, sAviOr (although this being an upset is debatable), RuBy, Leta and a few more.
On the upside, some new faces played quite well and might make it far into the tournament.
