sataNik shaking hands with outeKan after the final game
Last week's LAN in the capital city of Greece was another successful event for the local StarCraft community, bringing together players and fans from all over the country. This 2-day tournament, sponsored by Samsung, was originally planned as a qualifying tour for the Pan-European Cyber Games, but since our beloved game wasn't included in the official game list, the organizers of WCG Hellas decided to unofficially host the tournament anyway.
The group stage was held on Saturday, where all the players were gathered into one group and competed against each other in a BO3 match. The top 4 players would then continue the next day as they participated in the knock-out phase (double elimination) to compete for the prizes that included TFT Monitors by Samsung and various equipment by SteelSeries.
After a long time of absence, xLo.crack has returned to the Brood War scene and with his astonishing 8-0 record in the group stage he seemed to be the number one contestant for the title, after defeating xLo.sataNik in convincing manner on Azalea and Gaia (both ZvP). On the other hand the veteran Satanik had a few close-calls during his matches, as 4 of his 7 victories ended with a 2-1 score. The remaining 2 slots were to be taken by outeKan and uT)TaSSa, as they tied together along with Gr.nS)VicTim who just barely failed to continue due to his slightly worse win-loss record.

Onto Sunday's results now, where crack and sataNik as favorites advanced to the Winner Bracket Finals after defeating TaSSa and outeKan respectively with a 2-0 score. sataNik this time showed his impressive moves and overcame his opponent and teammate crack quite easily. In the Loser Bracket Finals crack needed a single win against outeKan (who had knocked out uT)TaSSa earlier) to face sataNik for the third time in the tournament, but after a very intense ZvT on Paranoid Android he eventually typed out and settled with 3rd place. As he lead with 1-0 in the Grand Finals, sataNik clinched another 2 wins against the surprise of the tournament outeKan and won first place.

The WCG Hellas officials have assured us that more tours are yet to come, such as the Gamics Tour in December and the most important tour of them all, the WCG Qualifiers a few weeks before the finals in Seattle. Until then, ANTE GEIA!
