[s]gg_tour[/s]Our first beta tournament organized Tuesday and Wednesday evening was a great success for the GosuGamers site development team. Many hours was invested in integrating the script and it finally payed of; the script worked just as supposed.

We learned a lot from the first tournament on what to improve, and these are the major things:

  • Forfeit upcoming match.
Due to the late hour Tuesday evening, some player left the tournament while waiting for an opponent. A button called "I forfeit my upcoming match" would be welcomed since you can not report a loss unless you have an opponent facing you.

  • Claim walk over.
After twenty minutes (walkover time) or more, a button next to "Report loss" should appear named "Claim walk over". An administrator will see a list of all claimed walk overs, control whether they're correct (by checking last refresh minute of the absent user and check his status on the gateway in question) and approve or disapprove it. This will make it easier for both the event team and the participants.

  • Faster bracket navigation.
When we had reached round six and seven, clicking the black arrows three to four times each time was a pain for almost everyone. Not to mention some who didn't even find themselves in the brackets because they were unable to find the navigation.

  • Confirmation popups.
Some people unfortunately clicked the report button twice after their loss, meaning they reported both their winner brackets loss and then a loser bracket loss from a match that was not even played yet. Having a box saying "By clicking OK, you confirm that you lost in a best out of 3 versus [Opponent]", for example, would probably make this go away.

  • Information popups.
We know that popups are not very appreciated when browsing the net. Nonetheless, we've decided that after you report your winner bracket loss (assuming there's a loser bracket as well), an information popup will be visible saying "Repoted successfully. Please noticed you have been moved to the loser brackets and that you still have games to play!". This might help people to remember the loser brackets since many thought it was over after the first loss.

We want your feedback, comments and ideas!

In order to make the tournament script even better, it is for us a natural thing to receive your feedback on it! If you participated the tournament, please give all your comments in the comment section below regarding the script, the organization, design, report system, functionality and in general.

Thank you!
