forUSecond day of the group plays has now been played and this included groups I-P. Some say these groups were far more skilled than the first ones and sure, we did see a lot of good games today! Though an important thing in this tournament - apart from many others - is that everyone does their best and if you don't advance it's not the whole world. Due to the low number of participants in each group, the predictions were mostly correct and in general (not everywhere though) the ones who were expected to advance to the playoffs did so.
ToT)Mondragon(Today I felt like the referee team was more prepared and we were more able to handle warnings, people in the tournament area who should not be here and several other situations which occured.
Groups I-P featured as many as three tiebreakers and this was the first time I personally felt excited about the outcome of specific groups. In Group K, Nazgul,
Nazgul and FroZ ElkY and Hero[pG] (FroZ) all had to tiebreak in what turned out to be a really close series of games. After three more games, ElkY was in the lead beating the other two guys and right after him was FroZ. Their tiebreak matches were all lengthy and very high quality: look for them tomorrow. FroZ was really quick with his left hand on the key board, I was really impressed.
TreK and Mondi advancing from
"Group of Death""The group of death" was also very intense and changed direction several times. I'm sure most of you checked the updates from that group extra carefully and the tiebreaks between ToT)Mondragon(, SW)TreK[cF] and LG)Manza were all so good. One could really see them fighting, in the end desperately microing their units knowing that every lost or won game was a big step in that respective direction. TreK pulled off one of his famous cheeses and tricked Manza completely, hiding a barracks in his main and then all of a sudden turning up with firebats, marines and medics in Manza's main, slaughtering everything that was there. Mondragon also fought very well and ended up second in the group of death after Manza saying "gl in the brackets" just after his loss, a ZvZ on Khoral of Ceres. TreK seemed really happy even though he will first face Fisheye[pG] and then if he wins, midas[gm].
What's more, group I turned out to be a three-man-group since none of the Peruvians showed up. Three games could not settle it, though, and they had to tiebreak and re-play them. RRB[Rush] won it all and will be facing
Androide[S2] in the round of 32.
rS.Testie did a good job winning all his matches and claiming that he was both sick and tired when he got there. Comment about usual talks about how nervous he is at offline-events was: "Ahhh... I'm too tired to be nervous now..."
In the end of Gorky versus JohnRambo, Gorky had 30,000 minerals and 12,000 gas. Just for your information.
As you see for yesterday's replays, WCG seems to be uploading them about a day after when they're all added to their "Genius Tournament System". Check tomorrow for more the package of today.
