Over the past week, teams emerged from groups and quarterfinals in TGA Winter Grand Prix. The top four teams are LGD Gaming, World Elite Academy, Kx.Happy, and Vici Gaming.
Similar to the LCS, the LPL has its own season promotion tournament. For the upcoming 2014 season, teams were selected to represent 28 different provinces to compete in the Tencent Games Arena Grand Prix. Of these 28 teams, only two will find a place in the 2014 Promotion tournament. It appeared the best eight teams emerged from the round robin bracket stages, as all of them failed to lose a single game. World Elite Academy, for example, were able to run Annie mid with Mejai's Soulstealer. The mid laner, xiye, went legendary in that match.
The quarterfinals did not come without surprises. CC Club, recently having acquired some clout as a new rising star, was taken out by Vici Gaming, who haven't made much of a splash in the scene since last season's TGA Grand Prix, where they took fourth place. Perhaps this year, they look to better their standings and take one of the coveted LPL Promotion Tournament spots.
Semifinals and third-fourth place decider will take place tomorrow, beginning at 8:00 CET. Finals will take place the day after, just before the postponed LPL Summer Playoffs, featuring teams OMG, World Elite, Royal Club, and Positive Energy. All matches except the grand final will be best of three, and the grand final will be a best of five.
