Relics looked full of energy when they approached the interview desk. After defeating Furious Gaming they were visibly relieved and ready to field any questions we threw at them. Understandably, most of the initial questions were less about an interview and more about meeting the team. Who is Relics? How did they prepare for this tournament? Still smiling, they began to answer our questions.
How often do you guys play together?
Revenant: We play every night, maybe four hours together every night to scrim with the teams around our region.
Why did you choose three warriors in your last match?
Mirr: We are comfortable with three warriors and we feel like it is viable to use. We might use it again, but we have a lot of different strategies.
How do you plan on playing against the top NA teams tomorrow?
Revenant: We will show a different style tomorrow, everyone should watch out.
What is it like playing on this massive stage?
Trinity: We have never been in a stage like this, especially so far away from our home. The first time we are all so jittery but I hope we will do a lot better during day two
What meta do you think is the most powerful?
Mirr: We like the Korean meta the most, we have learned our style from watching those vods and we think that is a powerful option.
Did you practice a Korean style knowing that NA teams struggle against that?
Mirr: It’s not something that is our general play style, we do a lot of different play style. Our goal is to figure the teams out tomorrow and choose the right play styles from against the right teams.
How have you prepared for this event?
Revenant: We have a smaller player pool than NA teams, so prior to this competition, we scrimmed with the best Thailand and Singapore teams. It was our best way to prepare.
Mirr: Prior to coming to this competition, we have watched every NA VOD. We know the strats and heroes and are not very surprised by anything we see. Other than the games we lost, I think we are very knowledgeable of our opponents.
What is your biggest weakness as a team that you need to avoid tomorrow
Mirr: Our largest weakness is our mechanics, so we rely a lot on our strategies. We need to make sure our strategies are the best for the best map.
