Wes “Ozzy” Tan is the next player to join the exclusive club of multiple GosuCup SEA champions and pushes the Philippines way ahead of the competition.
Cup after cup, the SEA elite of Hearthstone is taking shape. When in 2014 Dustin “WaningMoon” Mangulabnan was the only player who could win multiple tournaments, this year it’s different. Between March and now, four other players managed to repeat their successes, establishing themselves as the most consistent players in the region.
The last one to join the group of WaningMoon, AaronKoh, Neilyo and Adik is Filipino player Ozzy, a.k.a. Wespogi. And his trip to the cup was laden with the bodies of his compatriots. Even though he didn’t encounter many known opponents till the grand final, it was far from an easy run. The concluding set was an epic five-game thriller, spanning for more than 1,5 hours, featuring an intense Priest versus Echo Giants Mage game which went down all the way to fatigue. Ozzy also had to fight his way back from a 0-2 deficit against Reptile182, sparring with the last remains of his strength after what was the longest GosuCup tournament in history – full 11,5 hours.
For all these players, there are still two more chances to break WaningMoon’s hat-trick as cups 15 and 16 arrive this and next Saturday.
