The old eSports clan and the Italian underdog who shocked the BlizzCon viewership by making the playoffs join forces as SK's roster expands beyond Numberguy.

A couple of months ago, nobody knew who Riccardo "Kaor" Giammanco was. The Italian first appeared on stream during the BlizzCon European qualifiers, where he was brought as a replacement of other forfeiting players.

For someone who wasn't even supposed to be there, Kaor did well. More than well, in fact. He finished second in his group after Numberguy and before UK player Max and VGVN finalist Neirea. In the top eight bracket, he steamrolled through MrYagut and qualified for the BlizzCon grand finals, as one of the sixteen players in Anaheim.

More chapters to the Cinderella story were written during the opening weekend of the world championship. Placed in a group with Tarei, Nicolas and RenieHouR, Kaor took the top spot, leaving the Asians out. This qualified him for the top 8 playoffs - farther than probably anybody thought he'd go - where he lost to the world champion himself, James "Firebat" Kostesich.

Today, SK Gaming announced they'll be signing the talented Italian and looking forward to supporting his career further. His acquisition comes a month after SK Gaming first opened their Hearthstone division, signing Danish player Filip "Numberguy" Samuelsen.
