The playoffs of StarLadder is less than one day away and the groups were drawn tonight. Find the groupings below.
StarLadder has been a stable backbone of the European Dota 2 scene for quite some time, and now with this season they have also expanded into the international horizons. The playoffs format was also changed from the regular four team double elimination into a group stage of eight teams. The eight teams are seeded into two groups, top two of each will proceed into the best-of-three winner bracket whereas the bottom two of each group will be forced to start out in the lower bracket, where the matches are ruthless best-of-ones.
The groups were just drawn live tonight by vl1at and ARS-ART over at Cyberarena in Kiev. The teams were split into seedings pair of MVP/Evil Geniuses, Alliance/RoX.KiS, Team DK/Invictus Gaming and Team Empire/Natus Vincere. The two teams of each pair were split into separate groups as determined by the draw. The groups are seemingly quite fair and evenly stacked in terms of recent performances of the various teams participating. Worth noting is that Cloud9's EternalEnvy will be playing for Evil Geniuses during the event due to their main carry Fear still being injured.
The first match goes live tomorrow at 09 CEST (3pm SGT / 3am EST).
