Teams to watch:
1. Cloud9
With the absence of EnVyUs, Cloud9 is by far the highest ranked team playing today. They had a shaky end of June, but should still be considered the top favourites. With a recent 2-0 victory against Gale Force eSports, only Nubris really seems to stand a chance at taking away the title today. We will have to see if the July Cloud9 is greatly improved from the June Cloud9.
2. Nubris
Overwatch has a history of great mix teams showing up and doing extremely well. Nubris is the latest such team, which has been able to challenge all the top teams even without the security and backing of an organization. The current roster of Nubris includes European iddqd, formerly of Rogue, who will be playing alongside great players such as Coolmatt69 and Vonethil. Nubris hasn't played C9 in a while, which will either mean a surprise win or a convincing loss in the later stages of today's event.
3. Gale Force eSports
Our 9th ranked team on the GosuRankings, GFE seems to be stuck in the tier 2 devision. Clearly better than a lot of the participating teams, they have not had good records versus other top teams. If only one of the teams in this top 4 was Team Liquid, they might have had better odds, but with TL not playing today they will have to overcome not-so-great odds for the later part of the event.
4. SG-1
The only team we highlighted in yesterday's event, SG-1 is getting in plenty of hours of experience. They played well yesterday, barely losing 2-1 to the eventual winners Misfits. Though the bracket is bigger for today, and they have the disadvantage of playing cross-region, they should be able to do well again. There are a lot of wildcards in the bracket that could end up taking the 4th spot however.
