Overwatch Pit EU Championship lower bracket recap - Oh my, what happened here?

Yesterday’s games will either stop the jokes about EU Overwatch, or fuel them. Either way, here's a recap of what happened.
Event hubYesterday the playoffs in the Overwatch Pit Championship continued, with the lower bracket games played on the brand new patch. But it didn’t feel like a lower bracket, as heavy names like NiP and Misfits had fallen down, and were risking elimination. Yesterday’s lower bracket games started with Dignitas vs. Laser Kittenz, and it's fair to say that Dignitas had been looking somewhat shaky of late. Versus Winghaven and his fellow cool cats, however, Dignitas managed to turn their ruggedness into success. After taking a 2-1 win, Dignitas moved on to face NiP.
(Everything goes just right for Dignitas, as they full hold Laser Kittenz on Route 66.)In the matchup of Misfits vs. Singularity Ninjas, the Danish dream ended as Misfits showed that they are in a whole other league. A smooth 2-0 win for the Swedes saw them move on to await the winner from the game between NiP and Dignitas.
Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. Dignitas - Dignitas wins, 2-1
On paper, this should’ve been an somewhat easy win for NiP, but on this new patch, Dignitas almost looked refueled. The teams started on Lijang Tower, where Bromas on Tracer was a big part of his team taking that map. It was a close ordeal however, but NiP could not keep up with the Dignitas madness.
(Bromas’ Tracer looking scary good.)But NiP managed to get their stuff together for the next map of King’s Row, where both Zappis and LiNkzr gave us a bit of Hanzo (thanks, Jeff.) For the third and deciding map, Dignitas choose Nepal, which seemed a wise choice given they already beat NiP on a control point map. That map was a close series, but eventually Dignitas managed to secure the win on Nepal, and the set. Another giant fell, as NiP then got eliminated from the tournament.
Misfits vs. Dignitas, Dignitas wins, 2-0
Dignitas, fueled by their success in the previous two games, really showed up versus Misfits. The momentum they’d gained so far made them look much hungrier than they’ve seemed in a long time. It might not have been the most refined play from LiNkzr and co. but against a Misfits that aren’t doing what they should be able to do, it was more than enough. Dignitas took Route 66 after a nice last point defense. (As you can see in the clip below.)
(Dignitas with a great mess of individual picks and teamplay.)Then the teams went to King’s Row, where the casters and some of the audience were a bit confused as to how the new point-tick rules worked. Some even said it was the new patch that screwed over Misfits, but in the end Dignitas secured their 2-0 win versus the Swedes after a close King’s Row matchup.
(Misfits' Reinforce being honest about their games.)So, after this round of games some big names might be gone, but there’s still more than enough left for the last stretch of the tournament to be great. Tonight, we will for example see eUnited vs. Movistar Riders in the upper bracket. As always, you can view the games over at twitch.tv/overwatchpit, games starting at 17:00 CEST/8am PDT.
