Blizzard continuing the hype build-up for BlizzCon with another hero teaser

Only Blizzard can go from aliens, to StarCraft, to the Himalayas in only a matter of days. Each teaser is hinting at new heroes that will be revealed at BlizzCon.
Last week we thought Blizzard had started yet another reveal process, when we reported on a specific tweet. Then, a day later we were pleasantly surprised with the announcement of D.Va, a soon to be added hero in the game. But the two seemed to not be related, and so we kept waiting for a follow-up to the movie poster-tweet. Well, Blizzard again shared some of the Overwatch universe with us:
Blizzard keeps finding new ways to tease information, and we are enjoying it immensely. This time around, we get to view several entries into the journal of Mei-Ling Zhou. Mei will most likely be a new hero as well, and her journal tells us a lot of interesting information about her (as well as general Overwatch lore). Some of the highlights include:
- Mei is a scientist focused on abnormal climate phenomena, and is a colleague of genius ape Winston.
- She seems like an inventor of sorts, having designed both a set of gear (that protected her from harm even when being frozen solid), as well as a 'endothermic diffuser' that she uses to build walkways through rough terrain where there are none.
- She has been spending a lot of time in cold areas, such as the Yukon in Canada and what seems like the Himalayas in Asia.
While no images of the character were shared in the blog post, the investigative power of the community quickly zoomed in on what was the most likely fit for this character. Below, Mei is probably shown as the bottom right character. Her silhouette seems to show both an ice climbing pick, and ice climbing boots as well as a sort of grapple gun. With attributes like these, and the walkway-building hint, it seems like Mei is designed to be a very mobile support hero of sorts.
For now, all we can do is wait till this character (as well as others like D.Va) will be officially revealed at BlizzCon. And we also see the chance of an ice-based map being revealed along the way to be quite high.
