Of all the foreign favorites, Nerchio suffered the quickest slaying. The Polish zerg saw an unexpected loss to LeiYa in the very first round and fell to the losers bracket where he would be eliminated by Naniwa in round two. Naniwa himself would also be cast out after his win against Nerchio placed him against Liquid's newest recruit Sea. The former BroodWar player was unfaltering and dealt the Swede a 2-0 loss and advanced to round three where he will play GSL champion Life today.

In the other part of the lower bracket, the Duran brothers met each other for yet another time, slowly but surely becoming the Plotts of StarCraft 2. Just like at WCS Europe Vortix prevailed 2-0, following it up by eliminating Vibe in the next round and proceeding to play DongRaeGu today.

As the playday approached its finale, the winners bracket of IPL 5 got more and more heavily saturated on Koreans. Snute is the only foreigner up there but he's yet to play his first match against Violet and having in mind Korean's prowess in mirrors it is likely that the tournament welcomes an all-Korean UB by the end of the night. Meanwhile, the few foreigners that remain have a tough walk to walk in the losers bracket. HuK is playing Ryun, Stephano goes against GSL semi finalist HyuN and Vortix and Scarlett share a line with DongRaeGu.
