Despite his last round win over DeViL, Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen will be added to the list of unexpected exits in the first group stage.

Group N saw Romanian player DeathAngel take an unpredicted win over GamaBears' Taiwanese star SEn in the second round. That lead to a six-point stalemate where the best internal score would determine the top two.

SEn went 2-0, 2-0 and 0-2 which earned him two round points. Grubby went 2-0, 2-1 and 0-2 which left him with one round point. As for DeathAngel, he reached two round points after going 2-0, 2-0 and 0-2. This places DeathAngel in the top seat with SEn as second.

compLexity duo NaNiwa and DongRaeGu both made it through as group champions. Tougher it was for the players of Team Liquid. HerO, ret and Sheth did make it through, but neither HayprO nor TLO were able to reach the second group stage. This after a surprising loss to Swedish Seiplo for the latter.

Other exclamation marks of the day includes Yoan "ToD" Merlo who came out in first place ahead of Sheth, Fuzer and MoMaN. An exceptionally well-played third game in the series against Sheth bodes well for the Frenchman.

The Evil Geniuses trio - PuMa, HuK and IdrA - all passed to the next round, but the American Zerg IdrA was close in not making it, after two 2-1 wins over Jimpo and Forsen as well as a 0-2 loss over Kas. The same for HuK who went 1-2, 2-1 and 2-0 in Group O.

The three will have chance to redeem themselves in the second group stage as they are all paired with each other in Group A together with Orly.

Ret and DaBoO seemed to be happy with seeing the Dutch flag go through, so much that DaBoO never showed up to play against Ret.

BlizzCon 2010 winner Genius and Elfittaja were the last two players to pull through to the coming second group stage which was drawn just after midnight.
