The China E-sports Games has been put on hold after financial difficulties.
The first tournament phase of the China E-sports Games was planned to start on September 12 after being delayed due to the Olympic torch relay. But now the tournament is officially canceled due to the lack of a head sponsor.
The South Korean mobile telecommunications operator SK Telecom has called off the collaboration after being a head sponsor the last year.
The Counter-Strike, StarCraft and WarCraft III tournament series received lots of media exposure last year as the best players from all over the world took part. The remaining three tournament phases are questioned to take place. Unless a new sponsor is willing to back up with $151,000 as SK Telecom, it looks dark for the China E-sports Games to continue.
