A golem gathers no rust: Blitzcrank isn’t slowing down in 2XKO.

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, has revealed that Blitzcrank, the Great Steam Golem, will be a playable character in the upcoming free-to-play tag-based fighting game 2XKO.

Who is Blitzcrank in League of Legends?

In League of Legends, Blitzcrank is a tanky engage support champion from Zaun. Built as a massive mechanical construct to clear hazardous waste, he eventually broke away from that role and reshaped himself to assist the people living in the Sump. With his durable frame and immense strength, Blitzcrank steps in to shield others, using his extendable fist or bursts of stored energy to halt anyone causing trouble.

Blitzcrank will be the third champion from Zaun to join the 2XKO roster.

What are Blitzcrank’s moves in 2XKO?

His moves in the 2XKO trailer seem inspired by his combat kit in LoL, but adapted for the fighting game. His iconic Rocket Grab and Power Fist make an appearance, while a nod to his original ultimate, Static Field was shown.

However, some of the moves see the Great Steam Golem using both hands to grab and thrash his opponents around, with the use of some moves akin to wrestling moves that might work better in fighting games. He also has a powerful Ultimate that renders his opponent Darius useless for a few seconds.

To adjust to the style of 2XKO, Blitzcrank also jumps up and around when attacking and executing combos.

Voice acting changes

Blitzcrank features new voice lines from a different voice actor, which sound very different from his LoL and Wild Rift counterparts. His pitch is higher, and his voice is less robotic but more expressive than the original.

Community reactions are mostly positive, except for the voice acting

Fan reception about the character’s design and combat animations has been mostly positive. However, only the voice lines gained mixed reactions from the community. Some of the lines spoken, like “Trash detected” earned praise from commenters on YouTube.

However, others, especially LoL players, were startled at how different Blitzcrank’s tone was from the original. YouTubers like @Phantom19-YT said they were “NOT expecting Blitz to sound like that.” Others shared they instantly missed the champion’s old voice, with some comparing him to a strange-sounding Baymax from Big Hero 6. However, others argued that the new voice lines sounded more updated and modern.

Blitzcrank will be playable during the 2XKO global closed beta test on 9 September.

Sign-ups for the 2XKO closed beta can be found here. Riot Games will be inviting players both at the start and throughout the beta. Anyone who played Alpha Lab 1 or 2 on PC will have instant access, and console players from the same tests will automatically receive access via the Riot client on PC.

Vi, the Piltover Enforcer, will also be available in the 2XKO closed beta. She was previously featured in the 2XKO demo at EVO 2025.

2XKO is scheduled for a full release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
