Gambit Gaming receive their IEM spark and smash through group A, while Fnatic unsuspectingly leave early.
Today was a crazy day and perhaps the largest of upsets happened with Fnatic not making it through the group stages. The upsets kicked off with Millenium destroying Fnatic, followed by them losing 4 more times and then grasping their first win vs. Pain Gaming.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Gambit Gaming didn't drop a single game and went 5-0 in the group stage. Their dominance in LCS has surely carried over, on top of Gambit Gaming's already consistent solid performance at Intel Extreme Masters events. As expected, CJ Blaze already had advanced with the second korean team, Incredible Miracle, dropping out of the tiebreaker.
Taking their place was non-LCS participating team Millenium, who shocked everyone with quite a fabulous performance having replaced their support player. As a very momentum-driven team, Millenium was off to a good start and snowballed their solid performance. While still negative in the group stage, they tied and won the tiebreaker, leading them to be the third contender in Group A to proceed to the playoffs.
While we wait for the fantastic matches in Group B to conclude, Gambit Gaming, Millenium, and CJ Blaze await eagerly to face their future opponents in the playoffs. In a World Championship of this size, it's hard to make any solitary predictions. Tune in tomorrow for more live coverage with GosuGamers.
