Not entirely surprising, Koreans cruised to the second group stage without too much opposition and all but one - EG's JYP - made it through to the Ro16. By the power of having overwhelming numbers to begin with, however, the foreigner numbers are still on par with the Koreans and it could make for some very interesting final stages of the tournament.
While the Ro64 saw a lot of fan favorites advancing, it was also the death of many prominent names of the European scene. Players like Snuffe, Verdi and Bischu - who were considered the underdogs in their respective groups, upset not one or two high caliber contenders and were the end of Bly, Welmu, Snute, Targa, Mana and Adelscott. The list of fallen heroes continues and among the eliminated are also Goswser, Feast, BlinG, WhiteRa, Elfi, NightEnd, BabyKnight, ToD and more.
One of the absolute highlights, however, happened far away from those names and on Group J's territory. After playing all six sets, Lucifron, Strelok and YuGiOh ended up with the exact same score between them and a tiebreakers had to be set. Three matches later, still not winner was decided and a second tiebreaker series had to be played. Minutes later the results were exactly and as a result, a random draw was made to determine who was to advance to the Ro32, namely YuGiOh and Strelok, leaving Lucifron out of the tournament.
This completed the second group stage and the third one began. The first couple of matches have already been played, as you can see from the image below.
