With some of the biggest names in Starcraft fighting for their survival in the GSL Code A, this morning's play-day was crucial to see if the Non-KeSPA players could prevail over their rivals and stem the flow of recent KeSPA success.
The GSL Code A was in full swing this morning as the first day of the RO32 matches kicked off in GOMTV's Mokdong studio. Following their dominance over the eSF players throughout the RO48, the KeSPA players had a less than easy ride as they ran into strong opposition from Leenock, Hyun and YoDa.
Despite narrowly missing out on the Code S Championship last season, Hyun quickly found himself among the Code A rabble after crashing out in the group stages. The first obstacle in his rise from the ashes would be SKT1's Terran LabyRinth whom he dispatched handily 2-0. YoDa dashed any hopes the young Protoss Trust from CJ Entus had of Code S qualification sending him to the Up and Down matches and securing himself a spot in the next round alongside Hero and Byun.
Having bested Hyun in the finals last season, Sniper also found himself fighting to regain Code S status in the evening matches taking a 2-0 victory over Maru. Leenock continued the days' ZvT dominance in his games against CJ Entus' Bbyong. Protoss stars Creator and YongHwa faced off in a exciting mirror match up, with YongHwa advancing from the series 2-1 after an extremely close game 3. All eyes for the evening were of course focused on the title card with all KeSPA hope riding on their Ultimate Weapon, Flash, as he faced off against fellow Terran Ryung. Both players exhibited excellent mechanics but the bonjwa advanced into the RO16 with a clean sweep.
