Captain Planet: A team ready to challenge for the top
ECAL’s showmatch begins today when Captain Planet takes on WE. Whilst YaphetS and WE are well known, Captain Planet is a newly formed team to the scene. To give some insight into Captain Planet, player David ‘KoReYa-’ Kim was kind enough to give GosuGamers an interview.
Hi KoReYa-, thank you for your time. Could you give us an introduction to yourself?
Hi guys, I'm David 'KoreYa-' Kim. I'm 19 years old and a longtime Dota lover.
In the roster of Captain Planet, Power.Net and 1437 are well known, as they have both played for OK.Nirvana.Int before, and 1437 recently leaving It’s Gosu. Could you give us some information regarding you and the other 2 players?
For Celdur and I, we both played Dota together since he was my first captain when I started competitive play. He later quit because of real life issues. For me, I moved onto to another team called mL but since then I mainly play in European inhouse leagues and played with many top players.
Demise has played Dota for 8 years and didn't get noticed till Dota 2 came out. He was on the team Water but was on bench since he had real life issues. After it was resolved, he came back once again when 1437 approached him.
How was the team formed?
Well Power.Net and 1437 are good friends, and when 1437 left It’s Gosu he approached each of us to form a mix. We first just started to play scrims to see how well it goes. When we were on a winning spree during scrims, we all decided to make it official.
Could you give us insight to the player roles?
Celdur: Support / Ganker.
Demise: Sidelane Solo / Intiatior
Power.Net: Hard Carry
KoReYa-: Semi Carry / Ganker / Solo
1437: Support / Ganker / Intiatior
Will this team will be partcipating in upcoming competitions?
Definitely. We are looking to forward to challenge for the top, and earn an invitation to The International 2. I’m hoping to be the first Asian American to win it. IMA BE THE NEXT JEREMY LIN FOR ESPORTS!
We have seen heroes such as Leshrac and Silencer getting more play lately largely thanks to aL.bLeek uncovering their full potential. What heroes do you want to see more competitive play?
I'm hoping to see Puck and especially Necrolyte since he has gotten buffs for his ultimate. His pushing power creates teamfights and that is always interesting. We need more Alchemist and Shadow Fiend too!
What are your thoughts on the showmatch and predictions?
We are all excited and really can’t wait to play against a Chinese top team and the legendary YaphetS. For predictions, I would say we are very confident mainly because I have not seen the true potential of Chinese dota2 teams yet. We are all fairly confident in ourselves even on a SG server.
