The second Defense tournament run by joinDOTA has been announced. It has a total prize purse of €10,000 and will feature 24 teams. 20 are already invited and four additional teams will be determined in a qualifier from 11 June to 13 June.

The first edition of The Defense was won by Na'Vi in an epic four game series against the former Danish team of Quantic Gaming. Three months after the end of the first season, now a second season of The Defense has been announced.

Four open qualification spots

Just like in the first season, 24 teams will fight in The Defense. In this second edition, 20 of the participating teams are already determined due to invitation. The invited teams are all West teams, no Asian teams are participating. absolute Legends from Australia is also invited to participate, but the rules say the default server location will be US East.

The remaining four slots for The Defense 2 will go to the four best teams out of a maximum of 512 competing teams in a qualification tournament happening from 11 June to 13 June, which is already next week, Monday to Wednesday.

First rounds of the qualification tournament will be pool play. As soon as only 32 teams are remaining, the system switches over to a double-elimination bracket. Four best teams in the tournament advance to The Defense 2, registration is open for everyone. The main tournament will start right after Dreamhack ends on 21 June and the tournament is scheduled to finish in mid-August.
