MC with a narrow victory against JYP, to meet Sound at HSC 4 grand final
"God Protoss" MC advanced to the final game of HSC 4 after a dramatic protoss mirror versus EG's JYP. MC lived through 4-gate attacks, proxy rushes and even an exhausting draw, taking the series 3-2 in the end.
The oGs protoss quickly took game one after being the better 4-gating player on Tal'Darim Altar but a failed proxy 2-gate on Antiga cost him the lead. Players kept trading sets in this dangerous mirror match with MC taking the set advantage for the second time after winning the blink wars on Dual Sight but losing game four on Shattered Temple after his DT tech failed to do damage and MC found himself lacking critical stalker numbers to fight off JYP's counter pressure.
Just when one would think that this PvP was getting duller, along came the fifth and what was supposed to be the final game on Metalopolis. MC opened with a 4-gate but his rush was perfectly repelled by JYP's 1-gate robo. Yet this was just the calm before the storm as instead of clashing directly, the blink stalker composition of MC and the deathball of JYP decided to go for a base race that ultimately grew into a stalemate with each player having minimum amount of structures. MC suggested a draw but such was quickly denied by JYP who kept trying to find ways to sway this in his favor. So did MC as well but after a few more minutes of ring-around-the-rosie, JYP did finally confess that it should be a draw and so the game was remade.
After such a tumultuous set, this tense semi-final was concluded with a much more standard game with MC just being MC and playing a defensive blink into nexus build. JYP attempted to set MC's plans in flames but the oGs protoss had a micro a bit too good for his opponent. Blink and forcefields were combined to construct the best possible engagement scenario for MC and finally the series was his!
